How WealthLark Sources and Maintains Its Data

A plain account of where our numbers come from, how they are kept current, and what happens when something turns out to be wrong.

Where the Rate Data Comes From

All interest rates, inflation figures, and exchange rates displayed on WealthLark's Money Pulse and rate pages are sourced directly from official government and central bank publications. We do not use data aggregators, paid APIs, or third-party financial data vendors as primary sources.

How Often Data Is Updated

Each data series has a different natural publication cadence:

  • Bank Rate / Fed Funds: Updated after each MPC or FOMC meeting (approximately every 6–8 weeks). WealthLark verifies and updates within 48 hours of any announcement.
  • 10-Year Treasury / Mortgage Rate / GBP-USD: These move daily. We aim to verify and update weekly, every Monday.
  • CPI (UK and US): Published monthly. We update within 48 hours of the ONS or BLS release.
  • Crypto prices: Indicative only, updated manually when we review the site. We do not claim these are live quotes.

In practice, the rate data is maintained manually by reviewing the official source pages listed above. There is no automated live feed. Every figure shows an As Of date so you can see exactly when it was last verified.

If a figure appears stale, the site displays a visual staleness warning next to the affected rate.

How Guide Articles Are Researched

WealthLark's guides are written by a single author, Qasim Lak, based on the following process:

  1. Source selection: Earnings figures, platform fees, and pay ranges in practical guides are cross-referenced directly with platform public fee schedules (e.g. TaskRabbit, Rover, Upwork), US Bureau of Labor Statistics data, and HMRC guidance. Where third-party platform benchmarks are referenced, they are explicitly labelled as third-party estimates.
  2. Currency discipline: US-specific content is quoted in USD. UK-specific content is quoted in GBP. When a platform operates in both markets, both figures are stated separately. Mixed currency sentences are an editorial error we correct on sight.
  3. Claim caveats: We do not publish specific income guarantees (e.g., "earn $500 this weekend") without noting that results vary by location, availability, and effort. Ranges reflect documented market rates, not guaranteed outcomes.
  4. Last Verified date: Every article shows a Last Updated date in the header. When a rate, figure, or platform detail changes, we update the article and change this date.

Correction Policy

If a published figure is wrong, here is exactly what we do:

  1. We correct the text immediately.
  2. We add a visible correction note at the top of the affected article, formatted as:
"Correction (date): The original version of this article stated [X]. The correct figure is [Y]. We have updated the text."
  3. We update the article's Last Updated date to reflect the correction.

We do not silently edit errors. If a fact was wrong when published, the correction note stays permanently visible.

To report an error, use the Contact page. Include the article URL and the specific figure you believe is incorrect.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not accept payment for editorial coverage or product placement within guides.
  • We do not recommend financial products we have not independently reviewed.
  • We are not FCA-authorised, SEC-registered, or licensed financial advisers. Nothing on WealthLark constitutes regulated financial advice. Always verify information with official sources and consult a qualified professional before making significant financial decisions.

AI Tool Disclosure

WealthLark may use AI language tools to assist in drafting article text, structuring bullet points, and improving readability. All data figures — every rate, percentage, date, and source citation — are verified manually by Qasim Lak against the official primary sources listed in this methodology before publication.

AI tools do not set editorial judgement. Where an AI draft and an official source conflict, the official source governs. If a figure produced by an AI tool cannot be traced to an official source, it is removed.

Money Pulse weekly editorials are signed and dated by Qasim Lak. Daily Briefs carry a production note disclosing AI assistance where applicable.
